We All Have an Endocannabinoid System

We all have an ECS, but each animal is different and can benefit from formulated products based on their specific needs. Cats and dogs process cannabinoids, carrier oils, and terpenes differently than people.

Human-grade CBD is safe for pets, but adjustments need to be made to achieve the best experience possible, considering each animal's sensitivity to the array of compounds commonly found in CBD products.

CBD Oil for Dogs

RUDERALEX® CBD products for dogs take into consideration a canine's sensitivity to THC. Dog's exposed to high concentrations of THC are at risk of experiencing static ataxia (1), a condition caused by THC toxicosis. We offer broad-spectrum CBD oil for dogs, so owners won't have to worry about their pets having a bad experience after consuming THC.

Broad-spectrum extracts contain 0% THC potency levels but include an array of other 'minor cannabinoids,' terpenes, flavonoids, and phytonutrients to increase benefits and produce the entourage effect.

CBD Oil for Cats

Cats also process cannabis compounds differently than other animals, specifically terpenes. The essential plant oils found in hemp can trigger an allergic reaction in cats. Certain terpenes are believed (2) to be toxic to felines if they are ingested or applied topically.

RUDERALEX® kept the cat's intolerance to terpenes in mind when we created our line of pet CBD products. Our CBD oil for cats is formulated with low amounts of terpenes to ensure that the product is easily broken down in their digestive system without causing any discomfort. 

CBD Oil for Animals – CBD is Safe

In 2017, The World Health Organization issued a clinical review report regarding the safety of CBD use. The WHO states that 'CBD appears to have little effect on conditioned place preference or intracranial self-stimulation. In an animal drug discrimination model, CBD failed to substitute for THC. In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.' 

While pure CBD is tolerated well by pets, other compounds can create relatively adverse side effects compared to humans. These complications have influenced our product development process to guarantying the safety of all animals using RUDERALEX® CBD products for pets.

Our CBD oil for animals is available in organic salmon or sunflower seed oil. The delicious, meaty flavour of our salmon oil will have your dog or cat begging for their dose of CBD. Environmentally conscious pet owners can be at ease because we source the oil from sustainable salmon farms.
